Country song from the 1960s about a soldier led home by his dead dog.? - old 1960s home projector
My mother thought it was sung by Red Sovine, but we were not able to find something. She thought the title was something like "old Tig. We have searched all locations in the 1960s and the site of Red Sovine. The story is about a soldier returned home from Vietnam (?) War and the road was washed and lead his dog and showed him the way home. When the soldier back to his parents telling him that the dog died three years ago of a broken heart.
If you have additional information or if anyone remembers this song that would be wonderful.

Never heard of it, but now I want this one!
sounds like a song by Red Sovine, but I do not. "found! (finally started Buggin 'and I serches hours, haha) ..." old Rod "by Jim Reeves. Here are the lyrics
(Tige you were faithful, faithful till the end)
(Stem, I miss you, you're my best friend)
Three years of military service and in fact it was once the house in order
I got to thinking the end of my "dog and things long past over
How old Tige pulled me from a stream, where I no pulse or breathing
What saved me from my bull-Changin 'father speared to death.
A child he dreamed of bears and tremble to my toes
Stem old to go to my bed and push with the nose
So my fears were diluted and Rod go to bed
I drift back to sleep without another sound.
The big bus stopped and got out of it was awful dark and foggy
Then something happened touched me gently and it was my dog, Tige
I wondered if my loyalDog had met the bus each day
And sad all the nights of winter, because I was not present.
Stalk me here, so I was really glad
Since I had not needed Tige so much since the day they bury Dad
For long miles still to go, but I do not know
A huge dam was going on the old road used to be built.
I believe the Lord sent Tige and I followed where he
Knowing well without his help I would be dead
Rod went on this way and going rough and slow
And I heard the water a Lappin on the bars at the bottom.
Then through the mist, I saw a light and a mother in her chair
And I have the old animal, but he was not there
I'm glad my mother was three years old, crew of loneliness
I owe him my life tonight, I could not help but cry.
You say you wrote me bout the Dam and God was certainly with us
I have your letter Mom but old Tige met the bus
I hate to say it, your son, he said, but notneed to know w
If you broke his heart Tige died three years ago.
(You were my best friend .)...
It got me thinking, because my mother had this song and I was still young. Thus the title "Old Tige" .. by Jim Reeves. If you are on youtube.com and type in the title and the artist will enter into the search bar, you can hear the song. I'm straight, and I say, I can not do much sadder than this.
Just a guess here, I hear country music, but can not remember which one. Would it be ol 'yellow?
